Intervention model[editar]
The basis of the Promociona programme is the individualized educational guidance, ie direct action with students and families, in close collaboration with schools.
Three levels of intervention have been defined for the actions, although the Promociona Programme stresses individualised work with students and their families (Individualised Intervention Plan). Collaboration with schools is also a key factor in the development of the programme, as is collaboration with other resources and services involved in the education of the student.
INDIVIDUAL LEVEL. A tailor-made work plan
- With each student and his or her family, an "Individual Work Plan" is and developed through individualised interviews with the parents and tutorship with the pupils.
- The work with schools and other agents is a fundamental part, coordination meetings are an essential part of the daily work.
- Mentoring. Students learn about different professions and the education pathways necessary to develop them. The aim is not so much to define their professional pathway but to serve as a guide and motivating element for them to successfully complete their compulsory education and continue studying.
GROUP LEVEL. School support classrooms and specific sessions for learning in groups.
- The Promociona Classrooms are school support sessions that allow to achieve a double objective: to work on basic and transversal skills and to offer quality support to reinforce the knowledge of different subjects.
- Group sessions of educational guidance are also carried out to work on skills and which are aimed at both the students themselves and their families.
- Training and counselling sessions are offered with educational centres, aimed at professionals in the socio-educational field.
SOCIO-COMMUNITY LEVEL. Because educational success is everyone's business
The Fundación Secretariado Gitano is committed to networking with the surroundings and social agents close to the students. Encouraging participation in different community spaces is an important element to consider in order to achieve educational success.
- Awareness campaigns aimed at different audiences: although the main focus of the education-related campaigns has been the Roma community itself, the campaigns make it possible to bring Roma education into the public debate and to denounce the education gap.
- Encounters of students and families: they take place at local, regional and/or national level, being a space for debate, reflection, exchange of problems and successful experiences that are an important support for a large number of Roma students.
- Actions of social participation in the FSG's own actions or in collaboration with other entities: the participation of young Roma in their own spaces as well as in others in collaboration with entities outside the FSG is an important element in their own personal development.
